Communion Hydrosol

Communion Hydrosol is a beautiful compound hydrolat produced through a co-distillation of two classic resins: Oman Hojari Sacra Frankincense and Yemen Myrrh.

Co-distillation means that they were not blended from pre-distilled essential oils but that their essences were joined and married in the distillation process going from solid form to liquid form as one unique personality.

Over the years, I have learned there is a synergy and a very special relationship between Frankincense and Myrrh. A type of relationship that is unique in the plant world. In many ways, Frankincense and Myrrh are perfectly paired and polar opposites. One compliments the other, and together, they are more than their sum.

In Western and East Indian Astrology, Frankincense is ruled by the Sun and Myrrh by the Moon. One represents Yang or male energy, the other Yin or female energy. Each displays traits of their respective rulers, and side by side, they are found in traditional herbal formulas.

Their pairing is reflected in their growing habits and traditional uses, Myrrh grows in Sandy valleys and plains and Frankincense on mountainsides and Rock. Where one finds a tree from the Myrrh family, one will find, in the not-too-far distance, a Frankincense tree growing.

Myrrh, like the moon, is associated with cycles, the ebb and flow of waters and fluids, dissolution and birth in traditional medicinal systems. Myrrh is traditionally used to facilitate flow and dispel stagnation.

Frankincense, ruled by the sun, warms, stimulates and nourishes. It loosens and breaks up hardness like the rocks it grows in.

Communion is also a homage to Professor Ermias Dagne in Ethiopia, who, many years ago introduced me to his co-distillation of Boswellia Papyrifera and Ethiopian Myrrh which he named FraMyr.

FraMyr was the product of a study done on Pharaonic recipes, and this combination of co-distilled resins proved to have greater antimicrobial effects than either resin alone. The codistillation created a synergistic effect where the sum was greater than the two parts alone.

The fragrance of Communion is neither Frankincense nor Myrrh. It has a softness that Frankincense lacks and a boldness not found in Myrrh. It is a new creature. This co-distillation's essential oil, hydrosol, and resin extract are richly aromatic.

Our 3.5-ounce mister bottles are beautiful silver-coloured, reusable airless pumps. Very classy!
Our 32 Ounce/1 Litre size is in durable aluminum containers and the price includes shipping to the USA.

WHAT IS A HYDROSOL?-After an essential oil distillation is performed, the essential oil is collected from the distillate, and we are left with a richly fragrant distilled "water" which can be used as a refreshing body spray, a base for cremes, lotions, and many other aromatic/therapeutic products. This is a Hydrosol or a Hydrolat.

Please note: There may be droplets of essential oil in the hydrosol. Make sure to keep it away from eyes and mucous membranes.
This product can be diluted 1/2 and 1/2 with distilled water for many applications while retaining its aromatic qualities.

This product is sterile. Once opened, refrigerate any unused hydrosol since no preserving agents have been added.
