Description
This listing is for pure Bee Propolis. It is labelled “pure” because I processed it and removed a large amount of beeswax and hive debris from it.
In its pure form, it makes a beautiful and intensely fragrant addition to perfume and incense formulas. A little goes a long way.
In the past few years, it has been nearly impossible to find pure bee propolis that has been cleaned and separated from debris and beeswax. In fact, it has been so difficult to find pure propolis that many vendors, wholesalers and retailers of honey products have simply given up and no longer sell Propolis.
In recent years, the term Propolis has slowly shifted to mean a crude blend of Beehive scrapings with a very high percent of beeswax in it. While Beeswax is a beautiful thing and can make propolis easy to chew, It is not something you want in your incense or perfume blend and needs to be removed so it can be used in medicinal and aromatic formulas.
I personally processed this material into what is now 100% pure, clean and exclusively propolis.
Propolis is fragrant resinous material bees produce to keep the hive septic and germ-free. Created from the resin of different plants by the bees through the seasons, each batch of Propolis varies both in its scent, colour and chemical profile depending on the season, the locale and plant material that is available to them.
This Propolis has a sweet, warm, musky animalic, resinous amber-like fragrance with hints of Molasses and Black Cherry. Its scent is reminiscent of Poplar Bud resin, which often makes up a good portion of the Bee’s building material for Propolis.
Propolis can be used both powdered or blended as a tincture with other ingredients in a wide variety of incense types. A small sprayer/mister can be used for even dispersal. Its robust amber, musk-like scent transforms single ingredient and compound incense blends with a rich, exotic and sensuous touch.
A tincture of propolis in 95% alcohol can be a valuable asset in the perfumer’s palette.
Traditionally used to prevent and treat sore throats and oral infections. The raw resin chewed, and the tincture applied to the mouth/throat are common treatments for oral complaints in cultures around the world.

This is my 3rd purchase of resin, the first from this seller. I have not burned any yet, but everything is already so fragrant compared to the others. I wish my first two purchases were from Dan. I now understand people's love for opal. It's such a great, fresh scent. I don't even know what I received in the past.
I was curious how the resins weighed out. Everything I ordered was heavy. Dan has a "generous pour." This was a big purchase for me. I am delighted I went with Apothecary Garden. I can't wait to try them all.

It's really amazing to be able to get this (again). The last time was many years ago from a different vendor. 🐝 Smells so lovely!

I love the smell of propolis and this particular item from Apothecary's Garden is the absolute BEST! This is a recent distillation from Dan and worth every penny. Rich, smooth and oh so natural.
