Red Pine-Pinus Resinosa essential oil is a fragrant delight for the perfumer and aromatherapist.
This pure essential oil is from is a small-batch hydro-distillation I performed using local Ontario Red Pine sap that I collected in 2019.
Since it is distilled from the sap of the trees and not the needles and twigs as most other Pine essential oils it has a different scent profile.
It has a crisp, clean, penetrating aroma with dominant notes of Eucalyptus, Camphor, Peppermint,Black Pepper and Cherry.
It is an excellent decongestant in chest rubs, steam inhalations and vaporizers, and traditionally used in muscle rubs and liniments for sore muscles, inflamed joints and back pain, Pine essential oil is antibacterial, antiseptic, rubuficant, analgesic, expectorant. In aroma, it is grounding, stimulating and uplifting.
I personally collect and distill this essential oil from the whole oleo-resin/pitch that I sustainably collect. it has a richer fragrance than needle distilled essential oil and makes a lovely addition to perfume formulas and aromatherapy blends.
Living in Ontario, I have access to beautiful forests and an abundance of oleoresin bearing trees. Some, I steward and care for.
Stewardship in this context means I take care of the trees, over the years and in some cases over decades, look to their well-being, nurture them and harvest from them. This creates a sustainable and ethical source for high quality pure essential oils that can be used for medicine, incense and perfume.
This is a natural, pure and therapeutic grade essential oil. Nothing is added to it and nothing is removed from it.
