Khinjuk mastic-Ancient aromatic Resin-Pistacia Khinjuk-Incense-Khyphi-Sntr-Senetejer

Khinjuk Mastic is a semi-liquid aromatic resin from the same tree family that gives us our Pistachio nuts, Greek mastic, Biblical Terebinth, Black African Mastic and Mount Atlas Mastic resins.

Recent archeological discoveries suggest Pistacia Khinjuk was the most readily available aromatic resin to the ancient Egyptians and that in ancient times, it grew throughout the Sinai peninsula. For this reason, it is speculated that P. Khinjuk may be the resin "SNTR" or Senetejer often mentioned in ancient Egyptian texts that was ubiquitous in perfume, embalming and incense formulas, including the traditional fermented incense, "Kyphi."

As seen by the presence of small bark and leaf bits in the resin, Khinjuk Mastic is painstakingly collected from small droplets on the tree and the ground where it has fallen on leaf litter. I am putting this product on my sustainable harvest list. The bits of bark and leaf in the resin are a testament to its painstaking and sustainable collection methods.

Please note, this is a fresh, semi-liquid and very sticky resin. We package it in an extra bag inside the pouch. Place it in the freezer for 15 minutes if it sticks to the inner bag. Once chilled, the resin will be easy to remove in its entirety.

Also note that our ounces are 30 grams, not the 25 grams many other sellers offer. To this generous ounce, we ALWAYS add a bit more and NEVER less to our packages. Something our customers have come to count on.
