Awesome product and service!
I’ve tried Frankincense Sacra Oman on two separate occasions and have been well pleased! I love the Frankincense resin from Apothecary’s Garden, and appreciate the generous measurement! I used the resin to infuse in oil and it is fresh and pleasantly fragrant. The team at Apothecary’s Garden has always been very helpful and accessible. Additionally, the website and YouTube videos are very informative.
Originally I was hesitant to work with animal based fragrances, but having worked and used tallow for the past 4 years has drastically changed my perspective. Castoreum is a wonderful ingredient, and the cognac version is BOMB! It serves as one of the main ingredients in the most popular scent my business produces!
This is amazing !l!! I’ve reordered a few times …thank you so much
This is a stunning scent! Lots of smokey vanilla pipe tobacco, old sugary candy, old leather chair in a bar with filthy floors, and it's just beautifully dirty!
Absolutely stunning , beautiful fragrance !I will order again
Impressed with this African Elemi resin. Unlike other examples of Elemi that I've used before, this batch is neither sticky nor moist, which makes the material far easier to handle. Burning it, the scent is everything you'd expect from Elemi... of course it is lemony, bright, and refreshing, but the most pleasently surprising aspect of the whole thing is the soft musk note lingering; nothing bombastic, but definitely there. Overall: chuffed to have discovered this store. I have my eyes on the Madagasgar Elemi essential oil next.
Incredible as always , we mixed it into honey on Summer Solstice and I shared it with attendees that were at my workshop after the Shadow segment of the retreat!
This is very pretty. As others have said it is wearable by itself.
I started making electuaries a few months back. Initially I used some Suhul from here and some Sacra from Mountain Rose which is here in town. We have bees so I used some 2022 honey. For my most recent batch I used this Royal Green Hojari - 12 gm with 11 gm of the Dalzielii and 5 gm of the gifted Myrrh powder included with my order and 5 oz of honey. This blend delivers the most anti inflammation results as well as changes in my skin so far. I am so stoked to have discovered Dan's expertise.
Once or twice a year a small amount leaves the country by special license, most who apply never ever get to see it, and commercial distillers cannot touch it at all! That Dan and Faye managed to distill it feels like a small miracle, and the oil smells like a divine one
This is the fluffiest frankincense I have ever put to skin. The pine here is soft, almost weightless, and it carries the sweetest limes and lemons I have found in any Boswellia. At ten percent on skin it carried me through the clouds, and the drydown landed somewhere into a bag of the world's most expensive lemon lime gummies, with a faint carbonated fizz running underneath it all as a sparkle that comes and goes.
What sets this distillation apart for me is its restraint. Many frankincense oils turn soapy WAY too early, similar to cheap sandalwood and that soapiness tends to drag down everything else with it. Here it stays low until it sunsets, and the quieter things get room to speak. Deep in the drydown I find a powdery note that reminds me of Smarties candies, that dusty sweet incense quality, like the memory of resin smoke folded into sugar.
For most of its history, frankincense of this grade traveled to courts, burned for men who never had to ask its price. This is the scent of kings, and for a brief window it is within reach of the rest of us. If you ever have the chance to try the Sultan's Grade, take it. There's no reason to hesitate on this one.x
The real thing. 3000 years ago, this what everyone wanted. Packaged well.
I was pulled backward through time, back to the earliest days of my perfumery journey, when every raw material felt like a door into another world. There's something encapsulating about Musk Root, something that smells less like an ingredient and more like a memory.
Straight from the bottle, Musk Root opens with a vivid green profile, and inside that green is a whole ecosystem. Galbanum rises first, sharp and sappy and alive, followed by the dry tartness of lime and a bright flicker of bergamot. There are even hints of fruity apple in there, a juicy sweetness peeking through the greenery like fruit hidden in the leaves. Above it all sit airy, resinous pine notes, like sunlight filtering through the top of a canopy. Hints of petitgrain weave through, that bitter-leaf twist of snapped citrus branches, and as it begins to dry down, a soft, clean soapiness settles in, like moss washed by last night's rain.
Then the material deepens, and this is where it stops being a scent and starts being a place. Pepperiness emerges, then tree bark, rough and honest, and beneath it something smoother: a wood I can only describe as fantasy cedarwood, the kind of tree that grows in stories rather than soil. And everywhere, that remarkable dryness that is Sumbul's signature. This is the forest floor in morning summer sun, warm earth exhaling, with faint tonalities of true deer musk drifting underneath like something ancient drifting between the trees...
It's easy to understand why 19th-century Russian perfumers reached for this root when deer musk grew scarce. The animal is in there, quiet and botanical, but unmistakable. It's not super bitter like mugwort can be, but it strikes a fine balance between shiny and bitter (green notes)
This material is absolutely stunning, and it's a shapeshifter. Because of its scent profile, I can see Musk Root anchoring virtually any forest composition, either as a fixative giving longevity to fleeting top notes or as the soul of the blend itself, pulling everything together the way the great animalics do. Sea blends would work magnificently as well, heck I'd even reckon a Desert themed perfume would magnify the dryness aspect.
One warning to fellow perfumers: smell it at 10% dilution. At full strength it will simply overwhelm you. This oil will overwhelm you due to its potential!
On skin, it's pure pleasure, a trip straight into the woods that goes deeper with every hour. This one, you wander into and get lost
Another new favorite! Very unusual, but it’s warm n beautiful. Getting lots of ideas for this one. Arrived well before I expected too- wow, thanks again Dan.
I have been looking for real dragons blood everywhere, that smooth smoky smell, this is the real deal! not that amazon cheap stuff, def will be buying more!
This particular frankincense so quickly & readily integrates into my almond oil in an “emergency”. I bought an ounce some years back but it goes a long way.
I have autoimmune arthritis and I can feel the difference. Even though some medical practitioners talk it down, the synergy between this + myrrh is effective for me and Dan finds amazing medicines
Nigimiigwechwendam: I extend sincere gratitude to you
Reached out multiple times but no one reached out, my order seemed lost for over 2 weeks, then it finally showed up, I at a loss as to how it took 2.5 weeks to get to California, but less than a week to get to the UK :/ still no answers……
Hi Daniel,
I check emails and msgs every morning Mon-Fri. I do not see any msgs from you. What is your order #? I cannot explain why it took so long to reach you. We have no control over delivery once it goes to the post office. After it clears US customs, it is up to USPS to deliver to your address.
Regards,
Faye
I received my order and I'm very happy with it. The fragrances are amazing and exactly what I was hoping for.
I highly recommend Den—he is reliable, and his aromas are of excellent quality. I will definitely be ordering from him again in the future.
This resin extract has literally saved my dog's life:
About 10 months ago my dog had a large tumor erupt on her leg (open, weeping, bleeding) and we immediately took her in for surgical removal and biopsy. It came back cancerous, but as she was then 11 years old we did not want to start any debilitating chemo and opted to see what happened, as the doc said they removed it with clear margins.
4 months later she suddenly had about a dozen tumors appear nearly overnight all over her body, with one erupting on top of her head, again oozing and bleeding and large grape sized. One on her leg was lemon sized but subcutaneous. Knowing we were looking at putting her down or a ridiculous amount of costly treatment, I first opted for cycle- megadosing fisetin per current sheep studies. It worked during the megadose cycle a good amount reducing all tumors by at least 50% (measuring with calipers) but during the off-cycle they all returned to size. I decided to reduce the dose and take her to daily dosing with no off-cycle, and the tumors remained smaller but all were still there with the head tumor still slightly bleeding and weeping. I knew I had to try something additional.
Then I remembered I had this resin extract, I had worked with it for malaria prevention, and I had read during my malaria research some peer reviewed science of cancer research (mostly in vitro ie a petri dish). That research I had done years ago thus only recollected it as I reached mentally for solutions for my dog. So I decided to start giving her an entire teaspoon per day of this extract mixed with honey (she weighs 45 pounds / 20kg).
I know that usually Dan writes of simply using powdered resin and not necessarily resin extract for a honey frankincense. But I figured that she was so sick that perhaps the added concentration punch would be helpful to try.
Over the next two months ALL the tumors receded the rest of the way, the head wound closed and the tumor went flat. There was a giant lemon sized tumor on her leg that disappeared completely rather quickly and I could not feel it at all, mass gone internally.
For another month i could feel the solid hard head mass only when I squeezed that area between her ears. And then: even that subcutaneous head mass disappeared completely! Her head feels normal, I cannot feel that former mass at all ALL TUMORS ARE NOW GONE. She has more energy than ever (she is a Vizsla and is all energy).
I assume there are still cancer cells floating around in her bloodstream, so I will continue a regimen on and a bit off perhaps for the rest of her life. My main focus was on quality of life for what remained, but Dan's teachings, writings and work and offerings have given me so much, and now they have given us our dog the gift of more life to come.
It takes a bit to really get the character of this material. I don’t care for myrrh in general but this has a nice bitter, resinous quality that is dark and smoldering.
Out of the bottle it’s like caramel candy but when I put it on it transforms into cherry cola. I would wear it on its own. I can’t wait to play around with some cola scents.
Bright, citrus, clean, fresh. There’s a reason it’s the king of frankincense. Sparkling and beautiful. It’s a shame it’s so hard to find.
