Frankincense Sacra Oman
Fresh Frankincense Sacra from Oman. A very fragrant and fresh shipment. It is beautiful burned as incense and makes a gorgeous-smelling oil extract for lotions, salves and medicated oils.
This is what we call the harvest blend. It has not gone through an extensive sorting process. You will find light and dark tears as well as small pieces of bark. For this reason it is also the least expensive of the Frankincense sacra resins we have in the shop.
There is an ongoing debate among botanists whether Frankincense Carterii from Somalia and Frankincense Sacra which grows in Oman are the same species or different. This debate could, and likely will, go on for decades.
A staple of churches and temples around the world, Frankincense Sacra resin is traditionally used as incense and medicine. Its essential oil is distilled for perfumery and aromatherapy.
It is one of 6 frankincense types that is rich in Boswellic acids.
Since Boswellia Sacra contains the Boswellic acids in its resin, (Not the essential oil!), it is ideal for the preparation of therapeutic oils, salves, cremes and tinctures. It is easy to work with and its beautiful fragrance follows it through every product you make.
It is traditionally used to make Frankincense tea and the tears are often chewed as a healthy alternative to sweetened artificial gum.

Please note, our "Ounces" are not 25 grams as with most sellers, (a standard Ounce is actually 28.3 Grams), they are 30 Grams and my helpers are instructed to ALWAYS add more and NEVER less to each bag of resin. If you weigh the item you purchased you will confirm this.

This had a pleasant scent no doubt. Great for everyday use but I was surprised by the amount of bark in what I received. I apologize if this is typical for this grade. I'm not entirely sure. I'll probably invest in higher quality resins going forward. Overall happy with the rest of my purchase just not this particular item.

I’ve tried Frankincense Sacra Oman on two separate occasions and have been well pleased! I love the Frankincense resin from Apothecary’s Garden, and appreciate the generous measurement! I used the resin to infuse in oil and it is fresh and pleasantly fragrant. The team at Apothecary’s Garden has always been very helpful and accessible. Additionally, the website and YouTube videos are very informative.

I bought this item for the first time, along with some Frereana-Maydi. The latter works well for chewing. I purchased the Sacra-Oman to make tea, after researching Frankincense on YouTube. The tea is normally cloudy to milky white. The first time I tried to make it, I used hot water, and it turned out Brown. Since there is no number to call, I had to email/chat with an individual for this company. I was told to try room temperature water, so I used spring water. I dropped a few tears in pint of water and sat for 24hrs. The color is not cloudy, and nowhere close to white, but it is TAN. This product that I bought, is not what I thought I was buying or what it claims to be. I thank the individual for responding to me, even though you did not try to solve the problem. Maybe it's just about the money, then so be it. And for that... I hand you over to GOD.
Hi Sheree. You did not mention you had purchased the resin from me. I get endless questions about making a traditional Frankincense tea from all over the internet. Many of them purchased their resins on Amazon and I have no idea what they have.
The tea needs to be stirred or agitated in the morning. Depending on the season of harvest and the individual batch it may turn cloudy and not milky white as in the photos but it works just as well. I have updated my post to include that information. So really I have to thank you for pointing out the missing information. Please give it a good stir or shake. I ordered 5 varieties of frankincense to appreciate and work with for healing preparations, 1st time using gum resins. I did not want to burn them because I wanted them mainly for their therapeutic effects related to the presence of boswellic acid and other beneficial components. So I did…burn some. They all had their own individual, soothing fragrance. I am very blessed to have found out about this precious offering. I received my products before the date it was expected very expertly and individually packed . As for this sacra, I think it was the one I liked the best, besides of course, the sultan’s royal green hojari whom will not be seeing much fire in these parts. I did mix the other varieties and have some nice oil percolating. Adding a “ full spectrum “ frankincense into my daily routine will help with the effects of ageing. I love my products and the knowledge that I have gained since being introduced to them. I will use this for as long as I can and my next order will have to be larger so maybe I can burn a little more. Thank you so much for your excellent service.
