Black Frankincense Carterii Essential oil

Much like the Black Omani Sacra in the shop recently, the aroma of Black Carterii Frankincense essential oil from Somalia has a soft, sensual sweet scent with no harsh edges and will be especially appreciated by perfumers and incense makers for its unique aromatic profile.

Harvested in the North Eastern Bari area of Somalia, it is believed that the position of these trees in relation to the mountains and the Indian Ocean contributes to the resin's unique scent and stickiness.

Starting out quite light in colour, (see photo above), once compacted it takes on a darker honey colour that looks almost black from different angles.

This essential oil smells sweetly of honey and amber with soft citrus notes. it has a delicate aura of Balsam Fir, (Christmas trees), rounding out the fragrance perfectly. The aroma of both the essential oil and hydrosol is a lovely soft Amber/Honey with delicate hints of spice. It lacks the sharp edge one usually finds in commercial distillations of Frankincense Carterii. It is both relaxing and stimulating at the same time and a perfect product for aromatherapy, facial toners and other products.

This is a PURE & UNADULTERATED hydro distilled essential oil distilled by me in small batches. Nothing is added to it and nothing was taken from it.

Frankincense has been in the news regularly the past few years, due to the Boswellic acids found in the heavy resin portion of this oleo gum resin. Studies have shown these resin compounds cause apoptosis in various types of cancer cells without harming healthy cells. This is one of 3 types of Frankincense that are known to contain these compounds. The essential oils, however, can only contain trace amounts of Boswellic acids.
