Communion is beautiful compound essential oil yielded through a co-distillation of two classic resins-Royal Green Hojari Frankincense and Yemeni Myrrh. Co-distillation means that they were not blended from pre-distilled essential oils, but that their essences were joined and married in the distillation process going from solid form to liquid form as one unique personality.
In Western and East Indian Astrology, Frankincense is ruled by the Sun and Myrrh by the Moon. One represents Yang or male energy, the other Yin or female energy. Each displays traits of their respective rulers and side by side they are found in traditional herbal formulas.
Their pairing is reflected in their growing habits and traditional uses, Myrrh grows in Sandy valleys and plains and Frankincense on mountainsides and Rock. Where one finds a tree from the Myrrh family, one will find, in the not too far distance, a Frankincense tree growing.
Myrrh, like the moon, is associated with cycles, the ebb and flow of waters and fluids, dissolution and birth in traditional medicinal systems. Myrrh is traditionally used to facilitate flow and dispel stagnation.
Frankincense, ruled by the sun, warms, stimulates and nourishes. It loosens with its anti-inflammatory powers and breaks up hardness like the rocks it grows in.
Communion is also a homage to Professor Ermias Dagne in Ethiopia, who many years ago introduced me to his co-distillation of Boswellia Papyrifera and Ethiopian Myrrh which he named FraMyr.
FraMyr was the product of a study done on Pharaonic recipes and this combination of co-distilled resins proved to have greater antimicrobial effects than other types of Frankincense distilled with Myrrh. The codistillation created a synergistic effect where the sum was greater than the two parts alone.
The fragrance of Communion is neither Frankincense nor Myrrh. It has a softness that Frankincense lacks and a boldness that is not found in Myrrh. It is a new creature. The essential oil, hydrosol and resin extract from this co-distillation are richly aromatic.

This mix is a perfume itself… i wore it just on my wrists… drop on each… wanted to create a base accord for a fragrance out of it… but no - pulled it out just like that! Awesome scent!!!
I ordered a few oils from Apothecary's Garden, and I am beyond happy and impressed with all.
I'd say my favorite is communion ( the perfect word to describe it too ).. The scent and essence is the iridescence of true divine union. a sacred dance of wholeness.
Thank you Dan for your work, beyond grateful to have found this and looking forward to incorporating these oils in my journey
I must say, the quality of the oils exceeded my expectation :)
I wasn't sure what to expect on this one and it exceeded my expectations! There is something about it that is totally mesmerizing to me. Love it!
This was amazing from the first use! Used for meditation this combination will take you for a spiritual ride for sure. Using this on my third eye and crown took me right into that special place of no time and no space. Many insights popped in dreamtime and beyond.
I use this to add to skincare. I have repurchased a few times
Communion offers a totally mystic moment, with the sacred resins coming from biblical times. A real alchemical journey ...
