Frankincense Sacra Oman

Fresh Frankincense Sacra from Oman. A very fragrant and fresh shipment. It is beautiful burned as incense and makes a gorgeous-smelling oil extract for lotions, salves and medicated oils.

This is what we call the harvest blend. It has not gone through an extensive sorting process. You will find light and dark tears as well as small pieces of bark. For this reason it is also the least expensive of the Frankincense sacra resins we have in the shop.

There is an ongoing debate among botanists whether Frankincense Carterii from Somalia and Frankincense Sacra which grows in Oman are the same species or different. This debate could, and likely will, go on for decades.

A staple of churches and temples around the world, Frankincense Sacra resin is traditionally used as incense and medicine. Its essential oil is distilled for perfumery and aromatherapy.
It is one of 6 frankincense types that is rich in Boswellic acids.

Since Boswellia Sacra contains the Boswellic acids in its resin, (Not the essential oil!), it is ideal for the preparation of therapeutic oils, salves, cremes and tinctures. It is easy to work with and its beautiful fragrance follows it through every product you make.
It is traditionally used to make Frankincense tea and the tears are often chewed as a healthy alternative to sweetened artificial gum.

Please note, our "Ounces" are not 25 grams as with most sellers, (a standard Ounce is actually 28.3 Grams), they are 30 Grams and my helpers are instructed to ALWAYS add more and NEVER less to each bag of resin. If you weigh the item you purchased you will confirm this.

Frequently asked questions

Some questions and answers are automatically generated.

How fragrant is this frankincense?
Many reviewers describe the scent as exceptional—fresh, beautiful, and notably stronger than frankincense resin from other suppliers. Several customers who had tried frankincense before report being surprised by how much more fragrant this version is.
Does this contain bark and other plant matter?
Yes. The product description identifies this as the "harvest blend," an unsorted grade that includes light and dark tears along with small pieces of bark. A few reviewers noted the presence of bark pieces, though opinions on this varied—some found it acceptable, while others preferred a more refined grade.
Is it suitable for making oil infusions?
Yes. Reviewers who infused this resin in oil found it worked well and imparted its fresh, pleasant fragrance to the finished product. The description notes it is ideal for therapeutic oils, salves, and other infusions because the Boswellic acids are in the resin, not the essential oil.
Can I burn this on charcoal incense?
Yes. Multiple reviewers report burning this resin on charcoal successfully, finding it fragrant and pleasant. The product description also identifies burning as a traditional use.
Is this suitable for making frankincense tea?
This product can be used for tea, though one reviewer experienced unexpected results—the tea turned tan rather than the typical cloudy white. The description indicates the tears can be used for this purpose, so preparation method may affect the final appearance.
How fresh is the current shipment?
The product description describes this as a "very fragrant and fresh shipment." Reviewers consistently confirm this, using words like "fresh," "beautiful," and noting it delivers on the advertised quality.
Will this work for therapeutic or healing applications?
Many reviewers purchased this specifically for therapeutic oil preparations and healing work, citing the presence of Boswellic acids. Several report using it in their wellness routines, though the product cannot make health or efficacy claims.
Does the product arrive with more than advertised?
According to the description, ounce measurements here are 30 grams (rather than the standard 25 grams), and the seller intentionally adds more rather than less. One reviewer confirmed this upon weighing their purchase.
