When I opened the bottle I got hit with cinnamon scented gasoline! It is very well described as being like styrax but without the cloying styrene note which is exactly why I bought it. It starts with a mix of spicy amber but oscillates between fruity notes but has a sweet fuel note that reminds me of palo santo (except not like kerosene). It’s elusive in that when you apply it the scent comes and goes but lasts quite a while. Very versatile material that blends well with almost anything I’ve tried.

Best Benzoin note substitute for perfumery

I'm so glad I found this styrax essential oil because I can use it as a benzoin substitute in my perfumes. Benzoin comes in a resinoid format which is difficult to use in perfumes, it makes the perfumes sticky and hard to disffuse the scent, which doesnt happen with esential oils.
the smell is almost exactly the same as benzoin.
