We have used charcoal powder for thousands of years, most notably in producing gunpowder, fireworks, incense, cosmetics and medicine.
We provide this powder for our incense-making customers, though Charcoal powder can be used in many other creative and practical applications.
In incense formulas, charcoal powder is considered combustible and helps regulate the even burning of incense cones, sticks and other blends. It is a key ingredient in many traditional incense blends and products.
As far as I know, charcoal powder facilitates an even burn of incense sticks and cones and helps offset the low combustibility of resins such as Frankincense and Myrrh.
Though we do not grind this powder in-house, it is of excellent quality, and I don't have any concerns regarding its purity.
From what I can tell, Charcoal powder is used at a ratio of 1%-5% in incense formulas.

This is a collection of aromatic materials mentioned in the Old & New Testaments and in ancient Egyptian texts. I often get asked to translate biblical plant names and source the materials they mention. They are all here in this collection.
